This was conceptualized in the memory of a poem I wrote a while back: The 21-Gun Salute.
This was written as a submission for a Historical Flash Fiction Contest.

Please excuse the language.
I felt that it was a necessary touch, considering the characters and time of the story.
(I don't normally use swear words.)

I had to limit the scope of this piece due to the word count, but it is still able to stand alone.

This will likely be my main entry to the contest.
If I come up with another story, I shall write it as well.
Or if someone asks me to write one.
The latter isn't likely, though, so this will probably be my main entry.
